    1. I’ll look into some posts on using firebug to find out which part of the css style sheet you need to edit to change fonts and colours etc.

  1. My problem on my new blog is: plugins. I install them, but they don’t work, except for Disqus. The others don’t appear on the WP dashboard even though I have successfully uploaded them to my site, which is exactly what I did with Disqus too. How come Disqus is working and the others are not? What’s the problem?

  2. Security is a great concern, but I voted “Other” coz I also wanted to mention user-friendliness.

WP does not have a user-friendly backend. Many plugins are helping overcome this, but there’s still problems.

I won’t even go near Custom Fields because of their unfriendliness (I can’t believe how poorly they were implemented – sort of tacked on. Fortunately there’s some great plugins – Magic Fields, Pods and Multiple Content Blocks, that actually make them user friendly)

Shortcodes are nice in theory but the user should be able to select them from a dropdown. It reminds me of the bad old days of word processing in the ’80s where you had to enter codes to do formatting.

No copy&paste or drag and drop of images.

Some things still can only be done in HTML

Not enough user capabilities control. Requires third party plugins. Should be built in. E.g. you find you want your user to be an editor, but not have all the access that brings.

That’s just a few. I dread training new users in WordPress content entry et al, because if they don’t get it, it becomes a struggle.

    1. I hope you feel better with that lot off your chest 🙂

The dashboard can be a bit daunting for new users, and yes images and their palcement is a nightmare.

      Neil
